Our inventor, Kate Lomas, began her PhD at Auckland University, studying acoustics.
Dr Kate Lomas - Inventor & CTO
Kate loves taking inspiration from nature to develop innovative acoustic technologies. She is a highly qualified biophysicist with extensive research in natural acoustic systems, having discovered a new hearing organ that has inspired scientists worldwide to undertake further research. Kate began her working career in finance, and has business development experience. Kate has won numerous awards for her science. Her skills include acoustics, biological hearing systems, communication, leadership and building high performing teams.
Dr Liz Williams - CEO
Liz is passionate about translating science into commercial ventures. Liz has negotiated licensing and contract R&D agreements on behalf of CSIRO, translating CSIRO research in polymers to large corporates within the Agriculture and Coatings markets. Liz has a PhD in synthetic chemistry from Cambridge University. Her skills include value proposition design and communication, business model design and business development. Liz was awarded the 2017 BioMebourne Network Emerging Woman in Leadership for her contributions to the biomedical field.
Kate and Liz have worked together for 5 years, having previously raised $250k to develop a sustainable agribusiness in remote Australia to provide financial independence for Indigenous Australians. They spotted a gap in the cochlear implant market, and together strive to make cochlear implants accessible to all.
